Join Naturalist Melissa Kurkoski of the South Shore Natural Science Center for a talk about the basics of keeping backyard chickens under our events tent on Saturday August 22nd from 9 to 1. Her adventures in raising, caring for, and teaching with the Science Center’s engaging flock of hens has lead Melissa to utilize the many benefits of chickens beyond breakfast. Along with the basics of planning and preparing for chickens in your yard, we’ll talk about benefits from eggs and garden fertilizer to why chickens make great pets.
