BFM Composting Seminar
When: Thursday, April 27, 2017, 7-8:45 PM
Where: Thayer Public Library, Logan Auditorium, 798 Washington St., Braintree
Description:  Learn composting from a successful grower.  Adam Tedeschi from Second Nature Farm will go over the basics of composting: what materials do and do not belong in the compost heap, how to construct a heap, and how to mature your food scraps into a finished compost.  If you don’t have time or space to compost yourself Adam will explain the details of Second Nature Farm’s new composting program at the Braintree Farmers’ Market that will make it easy for everyone to participate.  If you would like to join the Composting Program the cost is $10 that will include a 5-gallon compost bucket w/lid that will be available at the seminar.  Let’s pitch in to to help make this project a success that reduces waste and provides healthy foods for our community.

Braintree Farmers Market Strawberry Festival
When: Saturday, June 24, 9 AM – 1 PM
Where: 1 JFK Memorial Drive, Braintree
Description:  Fresh local strawberries galore! C.N.Smith Farm will provide strawberry shortcake with fresh whipped cream.  This year our Strawberry Shortcakes will be created by LollyCake Ladies-we’re thrilled! Many of our vendors will be creating products that use local, in-season strawberries. Tables & chairs will be provided under our Events Tent. Fresh picked, fragrant and juicy local strawberries will be available for purchase to take home as well.
Braintree Farmers Market Clam & Lobster Feast
When:  Saturday, Sept 2, 2017 9 AM – 1 PM
Where: Braintree Farmers Market 1 JFK Memorial Drive, Braintree
Description: Enjoy a freshly prepared New England Clam & Lobster Feast with veggies from our Market farmers. Also featured will be Clam Chowder, Lobster Bisque & Lobster Rolls. Tables & chairs will be provided under our Events Tent. This Clam & Lobster Feast has become a much-anticipated tradition at the Braintree Farmers Market!  The Clam & Lobster Feast is sponsored by Fresh Catch Seafood.
Backyard Chicken Day

Local Honey Beekeepers Day

Description: Throughout the market day Allen Hiltz, our local beekeeper expert, will be under under our events tent fielding questions about how to raise bees and harvest honey.  Allen brings along his observational hive so you can witness this complex social community of bees who all hail to the queen!  Stop by and try to find her among her many subjects.  Bring all your questions about this burgeoning hobby.  zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz…..

Make a Difference Day-Last Outdoor Market
When:  Saturday, Oct 28, 2017  9 AM – 1 PM
Where: Braintree Farmers Market/Town Hall 1 JFK Memorial Drive, Braintree  Description: Make A Difference Day is a national day of helping other people, held each year on the fourth Saturday in October. In Braintree, we participate by holding a collection at Town Hall for new and gently used goods for a variety of local nonprofit organizations.

Indoor Braintree Thanksgiving Farmers Market
When: Saturday November 18, 9 AM – 1 PM
Where:  Braintree Town Hall,  1 JFK Memorial Drive, Braintree
Description:  Celebrate the end of the Farmer’s Market season with a full harvest for your holiday table. Gift baskets & local crafts will also be available. The market will be located inside the Braintree Town Hall.  Live music and a horse-drawn hayride.  This event is sponsored by Liberty Bay Credit Union. Music sponsored by Braintree Electric Dept.  This is a hoe-down not to be missed!
